Hello, take a seat, get comfy! Life throws a lot at us, and it can feel like an uphill battle. So, let me start with this – no matter how messy it may seem, I’m here to listen. It can sometimes feel that society, our generation, or our own community has not prioritized our emotional wellbeing. This is our time to navigate the potentially spooky world of vulnerability in a nonjudgmental space. Whether it means we’re going to dive into some anxious or depressive thoughts and feelings, explore life transitions you’re going through, or hold space for processing any trauma, this is where we work as a team to navigate these challenges.

I provide both virtual and in-person sessions for individuals. I use an approach that works to bridge action steps with emotional attunement. With CBT, Solution-focused techniques, and Polyvagal Theory, I am here to help you discover what path you want to walk.

If you find yourself seated across from me, I am a listener, an advocate, and a collaborator. If you can put up with the occasional pun or dad joke, I hope to hear from you! Here at Born to Bend Mental Health & Wellness, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental environment. LGBTQIA+ individuals, persons of color, and others marginalized by society are welcome.

Hello! I’m Tyra Williams, I am dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey to becoming the best versions of themselves. My practice embraces a holistic, social justice approach to therapy, recognizing the impact of societal factors on mental health and well-being.

I enjoy working with clients who are actively seeking growth, self-awareness, personal transformation, and a deeper connection to themselves. If you’re on a quest to understand yourself better, overcome barriers, explore intersectionality of various parts of your identity, or cultivate resilience, you’ve come to the right place. I love working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families by challenging intergenerational patterns and beliefs systems. I am LGBTQ+ affirming, gender celebratory, and sex positive. Together we’ll explore your values, aspirations and the broader context of your experiences, including how systems of power and privilege may influence your life.

I believe in creating a warm and inviting environment where individuals can feel safe to express themselves openly. My approach is integrative, combining evidence-based techniques with empathy and understanding. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including minority stress theory, narrative theory, decolonizing therapy, and systems theory, tailoring my methods to fit each individual’s unique needs. My goal is to empower you to explore your own self-worth, lighten the invisible emotional weight you might be carrying, and dig deeper into reaching your full potential while developing a more integrated version of yourself.

Together we’ll work on deconstructing unhealthy narratives, forms of oppression, prejudice, biases, and discrimination while developing strategies to help you move forward with the power to speak your own truth and express your own voice. We will explore what is holding you back and create a roadmap that aligns with your authentic self. My goal is to empower you to make informed choices, fostering a sense of empowerment and confidence in your decisions.

I’m here to offer support, a different perspective, and encouragement as you explore yourself and discover a path that resonates with you. Outside of my practice I enjoy physical fitness, reading books, spending time with my family, connecting with my two fur babies, and serving within my local community, which allow me to stay inspired and connected. I look forward to the opportunity to work together as you navigate this important phase of your life. I’ll walk through the storm with you as you embark on this journey of discovery!
